City manager Michael O'Neill declared himself disappointed with the performance on Saturday but stated he was happy with a point from what was one of City's poorest showings of the season.
"We didn’t get started and were fortunate at half-time,” said O’Neill.
“In the second half we played better, but we couldn’t get the ball down, couldn’t pass well and were far from our best.
“Whether it was the conditions or because we’ve had a hard week, we didn’t look sharp and lacked the cutting edge we’ve had in our last 12 games.”
“Nelson was outstanding and we really needed him today, they worked hard but we didn’t.
“We were looking for somebody with spark—Darren Smith, Charlie King or Kevin Byers—to turn the game in our favour but that didn’t happen.
“We don’t lose any ground from this result but we have to play better. With eight games to go we have to get another good run together if we are to make the play-offs. But the players know that.”
