BRECHIN City FC are delighted to announce that 19 year-old midfield player, Ian Nimmo, has extended his contract with the club to the end of the 2009-2010 season.
Ian only signed a deal with City a few weeks ago, which would have seen him contracted to the end of this season. However, manager, Michael O'Neill, was keen to keep the young player on a longer deal, given his performances in the club's opening matches Michael said: "We have to ensure we keep our young players and look after them. Ian has been tremendous for us in our opening games and to be honest, he is a huge bonus for us as at 19 years of age, we felt he might need time to settle in here.
"He has however, surpassed our expectations and it wouldn't surprise me if he can continue to play and apply himself in the manner he has done so far this season, if he gets another opportunity to return to full-time football. As well as being a gifted player, he's a very level headed guy with a big future."
Ian said: "I am loving it at Brechin, "Crunchie" and the gaffer have been great with me and we are always encouraged to go and express ourselves. The team is playing well just now and there are a lot of good midfield players at the club, so you have to perform every week.
"I was delighted to get my two goals today, but gutted that we didn't win the game. We really should have had it killed off in the first half and it was criminal we left them back in. But it's a lesson learned early in the season and we are still up there at the right end of the table and the boys want to stay there as long as possible."
