Brechin City 2 Raith Rovers 2 - By Jon Bergen

A good result all in all. A day that started with a lot of energy and looked like Brechin was going to have a chance of a repeat of the last home match. But it turned into a bit of a scary game as Raith saw the first goal in at 37 minutes and then seemed to take charge of the momentum. In the 50th minute it seemed that the tide was completely turned in Raith's favour and the Brechin fans reacted with great disappointment as the second Raith goal slipped into the back of the net in a goalmouth flurry of action and bit of a mix up.

While it looked bad for City, they dug in and pulled themselves back into the game and a couple of subs, Ian Diack and Richard Walker (despite the Announcer calling him David it was Richard), for David Murie and Charlie King, helped to change the momentum for Brechin. Diack pulled off the first goal for Brechin in minute 55, just 3 minutes after he arrived on the pitch. Battling back is nothing new for our City squad and so it was today that they hung in there and gave as good as they got till finally in the closing minutes Gary Twigg got the well deserved equalizer.

The next 8 minutes plus stoppage time were very exciting and worth the price of admission as we watched Brechin out play Rovers and look like with just a bit more time they could well have gotten all three points. But a 2-2 draw was a fair score and left this fan horse from shouting for all the excitement. And I suspect there are several others that have the same problem... Well done City for digging deep and pulling back into the match to keep us well in the hunt and still tied for first apart from goal difference...
