Ian Campbell Shares His Views - By Keith Johnston

Ahead of what he describes as "an important week", Ian Campbell shares his thoughts on the Morton game and looks ahead to Saturday's visit to Easter Road with the official web site.

The manager was delighted with his players following Saturday's victory at Cappielow. He said: "Saturday's result and performance were very professional. We used all our experience to get the result I thought we deserved - three points against one of our biggest rivals.

"All credit to our players. They have performed very consistently away from home over the last three weeks culminating with the Morton result and another shut out. I thought that the whole team played well, but was especially pleased with Craig Winter and Steve Hampshire. They raised their game to a different level, so all credit to them both.

"My message to everyone is let's keep our feet on the ground and look forward to our next game - which is Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday. It promises to be a great game for the fans.

"Obviously Hibs start as firm favourites because they are having a fantastic season in the SPL. But we will see what happens on Saturday."

Looking further forward, Ian continued: "In the league, the next month is very important for us. We remain firmly focused on the game in hand and each game thereafter.

"We are all looking forward to the second half of the season and with the present squad and backroom staff we know what we have to do to stay ahead."

Ian then turned his attention to the signings he has made in the January window and clearly believes that they are very useful additions to the squad: "I have made only two signings in the window Stuart Callaghan from Alloa and now Steven Ferguson from Ayr. These guys are very good players and very good professionals. They will give me a few options, not only in terms of team selection but also in terms of styles of play.

"The present squad is very strong and I am acutely aware of how well our present players have done for the club this year. They will all be needed and will get their chance to show what they can do over the next few weeks."

The manager finished by encouraging the people of Brechin to come out and support the club at Easter Road on Saturday and in the coming weeks: "I would like to see a massive support from Brechin at Easter Road on Saturday. There was over 2000 at Ibrox a few years ago and I'd like to think a good percentage of them will make the trip to Edinburgh. There's one thing for sure - the players appreciate your support and encouragement."
