Chairman's Rallying Call
- By
Secretary
Dear Supporters,
Brechin City Football Club enters the final and most important stage of the season when we play host to Ayr United at Glebe Park on Wednesday evening.
A midweek game would not normally attract much interest however it is our hope that the local community will get behind the club to support the Manager and players on Wednesday evening.
It is quite remarkable that a community the size of Brechin continues to support a senior football club when you look at the current league position of the Club when ranked with all other Scottish Football League clubs many of whom operate in far larger catchment areas. The league tables show that Brechin City is currently ranked 13th out of 30 SFL clubs on league position and 5th out of 30 on pointage.
As a club we are very proud to have achieved our initial target of reaching the IRN BRU 1st Division play offs, however as the Manager keeps reminding us, we have won nothing yet and it is the next two games (and hopefully two more after that) that will decide how successful our season has been.
At a time when our players would usually be packing their bags and heading off for a well earned rest we face two more weeks of competitive football. I would ask you to shelf whatever plans you may have for Wednesday evening and to come along to Glebe Park for our 7.45 pm kick off and throw your support behind the team, after all it will be the town that will benefit from bigger visiting support should we be fortunate enough to win promotion to the 1st Division.
So come on, whether you are a first time supporter or you have been following us for years Wednesday night is not a night to be missed so come along and do your bit.
Yours faithfully
Ken Ferguson.
Chairman
