Cowdenbeath Match Preview
- By
John Hoey
Brechin City will hope to bounce back from last Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at East Fife when Second Division newcomers Cowdenbeath come calling at Glebe Park tomorrow.
Recent games between the clubs have always been close and tomorrow’s match looks like being no exception.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game, City boss Jim Duffy said,
“ We will approach this game as we do every game, namely we’ll be trying to play as well as we can and pick up maximum points at the end of the day.
It’s very early days for every team in the division and no-one knows exactly how things are going to pan out at this stage. It’s a very open league with every team capable of beating each other.”
In terms of injuries, City will be without long-term casualties David Murie and David White and Barry Smith is also still unavailable. The manager also reported a couple of other injury problems.
“ Kevin Byers has had a problem with his hamstring and will have to be regarded as doubtful although we’ll see how he is tomorrow. In addition, Ian Nimmo was ill earlier in the week and missed training on Monday night and similarly we’ll have to wait and see how he is when he comes in tomorrow. However, on the plus side, Jon Seeley will be available again."
The Blue Brazil’s Second Division status was confirmed yesterday by the SFL, but as Livingston have appealed their demotion to the SFA this status remains provisional.
Boss Danny Lennon will have his players fired up for this game and he will be hoping that they can take something from the match.
The visitors will be without Kenny Adamson and Dene Droudge who were both sent off in last week’s league opener against Arbroath which Cowden lost by 2-1. Jay Shields is also suspended for the trip to Glebe Park while Mark Ramsay will miss out through injury.
