Brechin City v East Fife - By John Hoey

City will be hoping to put Tuesday night’s disappointing defeat against Peterhead behind them when East Fife come calling at the Glebe tomorrow.

The team created two or three good goal-scoring opportunities at Balmoor Stadium but failed to take any of them and paid the price by losing the only goal of the game with just ten minutes of the match remaining.

Boss Jim Duffy said,

“ When you get two or three good chances in a game you have to take at least one of them and the fact that we didn’t do so on Tuesday night was a big disappointment.”

“ However, we have the chance to make amends tomorrow when we play East Fife and we want to ensure that our excellent record at Glebe Park continues.”

“ The players have worked hard in every game and I can’t fault their attitude, work ethos and commitment.”

“ When we played East Fife at New Bayview earlier in the season we didn’t perform particularly well and I thought it was one of our poorest performances of the season so far. However, the players will be going all out tomorrow to reverse that result and maintain our good home record."

Kevin Byers, David Murie and David White all remain sidelined although there are high hopes that Barry Smith who picked up an injury on Tuesday night will be available.”

“ Barry's been getting treatment at Dundee all week and when I spoke to him yesterday he was quite confident that he’d be fit enough to play, “ said Jim. “ He’s a very important player for us and it would have been a blow if he couldn’t have made the game, but we’ll see how he is when he comes in, and hopefully he’ll be in his usual place.”

Jon Seeley, who missed out on Tuesday because of work commitments will also be available for selection tomorrow.

The manager also revealed that he’s allowed Chris McGroarty and Ian Harty to join Forfar on a month’s loan.

“ Chris and Ian haven’t been getting regular games for us, so a loan move to Forfar should suit them both,” said Jim.

East Fife look as if they will be missing Robert Campbell, Bobby Linn, Darren Thomson and Goran Stanic and ex Brechin favourite Scott Thomson is still fighting his way back to fitness after injury and tomorrow's game may come too soon for him.

Midfielder Jamie McCunnie who signed for the club last week should find a place in the starting line-up.
