Wick Academy v Brechin City - By John Hoey

City players and officials will leave Brechin at 5.00pm tonight on the first stage of their long journey north to play Wick Academy in the 3rd round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup.

The Brechin party will stop off for a bite to eat in Inverness before journeying on to Wick where they will stay overnight and will return to Brechin after tomorrow’s game.

Manager Jim Duffy is looking forward to the match and is confident that his side will be in the hat for the 4th round draw.

“ This game is a huge game for Wick and one that they will be immensely looking forward to. I’ve received reports from their last couple of games and I know that they will be desperate to get a result against us.

However, we will be concentrating on how we play and focus on the quality and attributes that we can bring to the game.

There will be a great atmosphere in the ground and I think that a typical, gutsy Scottish Cup tie is on the cards for the spectators.

The players are all looking forward to the match and if we play to our capabilities I’m sure we’ll progress to the next round.

The manager looks like being without Steven Canning and David Murie because of work commitments while winger Bobby Barr who has been in impressive form since joining the club is cup-tied.

Brechin supporters traveling to the match are reminded to try and get there as early as possible to ease congestion at the turnstiles.
