Ayr Cup-Tie In Serious Doubt - By John Hoey

Saturdays 4th round Active Nation Scottish Cup tie against Ayr United is in serious doubt because of the extreme weather conditions.

Ayr United have been in touch with the referees' department at the SFA to see if an early inspection can be arranged and are hoping that one can take place on Thursday.

A Scottish FA spokesperson said: "Due to the extreme weather conditions, the Scottish FA have been proactive in encouraging early pitch inspections for all Active Nation Scottish Cup fourth round ties this weekend.

"In the interests of supporter safety and convenience, inspections will take place from tomorrow onwards and clubs have also been advised to liaise with their local authority with regard to the surrounding areas of their grounds.

"Under the Scottish FA cup competition rules, pitch inspections can be carried out no later that four hours prior to kick-off but given the weather forecast for the week ahead, it is prudent for inspections to be carried out as quickly as possible."

Details of any planned pitch inspection will be posted on this website as soon as details become available.
