The possibility of an exciting Tayside derby emerged after the draw for the 5th round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup was made today.

If Brechin manage to overcome Ayr United at Somerset Park and Dundee can win through against Livingston at Almondvale then both teams would meet in what would be an eagerly anticipated local derby at Dens Park.

City of course will face a difficult task against Ayr while Dundee cannot be relishing the trip to Livingston and although everything at the moment is a matter for conjecture, what an incentive for the City players to know that if they can beat Ayr at Somerset Park they will then face a trip to Third Division leaders and title favourites Livingston, managed by ex City player Gary Bollan or the short trip to Dens Park to face Jocky Scott's high-flying Dundee side.
