On a beautiful day the Brechin City worked hard to get a well deserved win. In one of the best efforts of late Brechin went up by one right before the half with a Paul McLean goal. This brought out a fairly lively City for the second half. At 77 minutes Mark Archdeacon put in what should have been the lock on the win as the Alloa team was up till that point playing below their best effort. Somehow though this was more of a spark to Alloa and they battled back with two goals in a matter of minutes and looked like pressing on to win the match outright.

With it looking like a single point was all that was to be snatched from the jaws of victory a ball was passed forward to Rory McAlister and he drew a foul as the keeper had pulled him down in the box in a one on one situation. As the ref pointed to the spot Charlie King stepped up and put the ball in the back of the net to secure the full three points for Brechin.
