1989/90 Squad Reunion

If you remember Gordon Lees, Bobby Brown, Paul Ritchie, Ian Pryde, Davie Watt, Alex Brash, Graham Hutt, Dave Lawrie Dougie Scott then Glebe Park is the place to be tomorrow.
Brechin City Football Club are turning back the clock 20 years to arguably one of the biggest achievements in the club's history, the 1989-90 Second Division Championship win, which saw City beat full-timers Kilmarnock in the race for the title.
Around 17 of the squad who took part in that successful season will be at Glebe Park on Saturday for City's second division clash with East Fife and a great deal of work had gone on behind the scenes to ensure the majority of those who regularly appeared in the side are present.
Former City winger, Gordon Lees, has played a major role in tracking down his former team mates and he said each and everyone of them were delighted to take up the club's invitation.
"Even after all these years, the players remember how well we were looked after by Brechin City," said Gordon.
"I think from the regulars that appeared that season, we are missing just Frank Conway, who has a family gathering to attend. Apart from Frankie however and coach Atholl Henderson who is working with St Johnstone, we have a full compliment. The lads are very much looking forward to having the chance to catch up with one another. We are also delighted that John Ritchie, our manager is able to attend.
"We are making a day of it. After our day at Glebe Park, we are off for a meal in Broughty Ferry and it will give us all an opportunity to do even more catching up."
The Brechin City side managed by John Ritchie and assisted by Dick Campbell and Atholl Henderson won the championship despite a huge investment in players by Jim Fleeting's Rugby Park full-timers. One of their most notable buys was the late Tommy Burns whom "Killie" paid Celtic around £60,000 for.
The Brechin City squad will be hosted in the club's 1982-83 Lounge, ironically named after the club's first league championship winning side and will be introduced to the home supporters by appearing on the pitch at half-time.
