Ayr United - Brechin City Preview

John Hoey
City travel to Somerset Park tomorrow to play Ayr United in the opening league match of the Second Division campaign on the back of two excellent performances against, firstly, Stenhousemuir in the CIS Cup first round last Saturday when the team won comfortably by 3-1 and secondly the 2-2 draw against Aberdeen in the David H. Will memorial game when the side were desperately unlucky not to have won.
Manager Jim Weir will be hopeful that his team can keep their good run of form going against the Honest Men but he goes into tomorrow's match with injury worries over two players.
" Calum Booth picked up an injury during a training session at Hibs and I would rate his chances as no more than 50-50," said Jim.
" It would be a big blow if Calum failed to make it given his recent performances but he'll be given up until the last minute to prove his fitness."
" Gary Fusco is also suffering from a heel injury and hasn't trained all week so he would have to be considered doubtful as well."
In addition to Booth and Fusco, full-back Andrew Cook may also be missing.
" Andrew was attending a wedding in Stornoway yesterday and it's not clear whether or not he'll make back in time for the match," said Jim.
