Forfar v Brechin City Preview - By John Hoey

City travel the short distance to Forfar tomorrow for the first local derby of the season.

The Loons sit at the top of the Second Division table having won their first two games against Dumbarton (home) and Peterhead (away) and while these two opening victories may have raised a few eyebrows it hasn’t come as a surprise to City boss Jim Weir.

“ Forfar have a very experienced squad and in Dick Campbell, they have a manger who knows how to get the best out of his players,” said Jim.

“ They will be looking to make it three wins out of three tomorrow but we will go there confident of getting a good result.”

“ The fact that one or two ex Brechin players will be in the Forfar team will add a bit of spice to the occasion, but overall I am sure we will have a good football match to look forward to which the supporters will enjoy.”

“ I have been delighted with the way my team are playing and the attitude and commitment shown by the players has been superb.”

“ We will approach the game in our normal manner, and if we play to our capabilities I am confident we will come away with a good result.”

As regards team news, Jamie Redman remains side-lined although he is making a good recovery from his hernia operation and his return to first-team action can’t be that far away. Calum Booth hasn’t trained all week and is regarded as very doubtful.

The good news for City fans though is that Craig Nelson and Gary Fusco have managed to complete full training sessions this week.

“ Craig and Gary have come through two training sessions this week and provided that there is no re-action, both will come into consideration for tomorrow’s game,” said Jim.
