Manager's Post-Match Comments - By John Hoey

Manager Jim Weir spoke to the press immediately after City’s 3-1 win against Dumbarton and this is what he said to say,

“ I’m really delighted with our victory because we were playing a side who’ve really got a lift from their last two games. They won their last home game after a difficult start. We knew that their confidence would be a bit higher, and I thought that they started the game faily well whereas we started very slowly.”

“ We had to change our system a wee bit to try and stop the waves of attacks that Dumbarton had in the first ten minutes or so. At that stage, I didn’t think that we were up to the pace of the game. However, we got the goals at the right time. Calum Booth’s a really good footballer and he’s certainly capable of scoring goals and I was pleased for David McKenna who’s got off the mark in the league and I’m sure that he’ll get a lift from that.

“ We started the second-half fairly slowly. Dumbarton had clearly got a rollicking at the interval but up until they scored I didn’t really feel that we were under much pressure. We maybe had a couple of chances to kill the game and when the boy hit that wonder goal we were always going to be facing a sticky spell, but I was delighted that Rory got on the score-sheet at the end to seal the game.”

“ I’ve got targets to aim for in my own mind because if didn’t have targets I would have nothing to aim for but I don’t go public with them. Myself, Kevin and the players know where we want to be. We’ve got good players here. We’d two players of quality sitting in the stand today and good quality players on the bench. There are no fringe players here. Deciding who to leave out is always difficult and keeping everyone happy is difficult but what we keep saying to the players is if you get in the starting eleven and the team get’s results then the team picks itself.”

“ Dumbarton is a very hard place to come to and get a result. They have an excellent manager who I know very well but we’ll take the positives from this result into next week’s home game against Peterhead who are another tough side.”
