Brechin have released midfielders Kevin Byers and Ally Mitchell, with manager Dick Campbell saying that the two are: "surplus to requirements".

The manager refused to confirm or deny whether their departure had anything to do with an alleged dispute at the Albion Rovers CIS cup tie.

Rumour has it that, on hearing they were not to be playing, the two departed the ground early. Scott McCulloch then picked up an injury in the warm up and the pair could not be found when the manager went looking to get one of them to be a substitute.

Neither player has set the Glebe Park grass on fire in their time with the club, and if it is true that they behaved unprofessionally, then most City supporters will not be too bothered to see them leave.
