David White Delighted To Be Back

David White revealed after Saturday’s local derby against Forfar that he didn’t have to be asked twice when he received a shock phone-call from manager Jim Weir on Friday afternoon asking him to come back to the club to play against Forfar in the Angus derby.
“ I got a phone-call at my work from the manager to tell me that Ewan Moyes had been injured in training at Hibs and wasn’t likely to make it for Saturday’s game and that he needed me back,” said David.
“ I was due to play for Newtongrange Star in the Scottish Junior Cup against Glenrothes the following afternoon and was looking forward to that game but I was delighted to be able to come back to City and help them out.”
“ Ewan Moyes partnership with Gerry McGlauchlan at the heart of the City defence has been an integral part of the club’s success this season as they gel very well but I as I say, I was really pleased to return and although I felt sore at the end of the game I thought I did ok and my leg stood up really well.”
“ The reason for me going to Newtongrange was to enable me to build up my match fitness as sitting on the bench wasn’t really helping. I’d no complaints as big Moysee and Gerry were really playing well but I needed regular games to build up my fitness.”
“ The terms of the agreement with Newtongrange were that the club could recall me at any time during the loan period but I didn’t envisage coming back so soon.”
“ We’ll now just have to wait and see what develops. I don’t know whether Moysee will be out for one or two weeks but I felt I did fine in the game against Forfar and it’s up to me now to try and stake a claim for a regular place in the side.”
