Cautious Optimism for Saturday

There is cautious optimism that Saturday’s Irn Bru Second Division fixture at Peterhead may be able to go ahead.
Blue Toon Secretary Brian McCombie has contacted City counterpart Gus Fairlie to tell him that with temperatures set to rise for the next three days, and with no overnight frosts forecast, the chances of the game going ahead look reasonable.
There is still snow lying on the pitch, but the surface underneath is in good condition and provided that there are no overnight frosts, the snow should be able to be cleared from the park.
A decision will be made on Friday regarding the way forward, but everyone will be keeping their fingers crossed that the game can go ahead.
City boss Jim Weir gathered his players together on Sunday for a training session at an indoor facility in Hamilton and the manager has booked training facilities in Edinburgh for tomorrow night.
“ We brought everyone together in Hamilton on Sunday and had a really good training session,” said Jim.
“ Tuesday night was horrendous in terms of weather and we had to cancel training for that evening. It’s been a nightmare trying to get something organised for tomorrow night as everywhere is busy, but thankfully we’ve managed to book facilities in Edinburgh.”
“ Peterhead had a game last Saturday while we only managed a training session so it was vitally important that we got everyone together to properly prepare for Saturday’s match which looks as though it may go ahead.”
“ Charlie King is obviously still out and Ewan Moyes hasn’t trained for the last couple of weeks due to an ankle injury. However, he’s been getting intensive treatment at Hibs all week and we’re hopeful that he’ll be able to make it for Saturday. Everyone else is fit and raring to go and looking forward to the game.”
