Brechin v Hamilton Preview
- By
Steven Mew
Brechin welcome Hamilton Academical to Glebe Park tomorrow for the second time this season, and it will be the third time the two sides have met in the league this campaign and it isn’t even Christmas yet!
Accies have done reasonably well so far this season but will be a little disappointed that they only lie in 4th in the 1st Division when they were tipped as dark horses for the title at the bookies. Hamilton have always been there or thereabouts during the season so far but have only won once in the last 4 league games, which has seen them drop down into 4th place, behind St Mirren, Ross County and St Johnstone. The end of last month saw Accies put talented striker Ian Harty onto the transfer list for a breach of discipline involving the clubs medical department. Hamilton swooped to sign Ian Harty in the summer, who had a great scoring record at both Clyde and Stranraer, but Ian has been injured throughout the season so far and had still to make his competitive debut for the club, and it looks like he will never pull on a red and white hooped jersey.
It gets tiring saying this every week, but City are still the only team in Britain still to register a win and if they don’t get that elusive victory tomorrow, they will have gone HALF the league campaign without a win. It’s a stat that both ‘Pink’ and the players are determined to banish and City supporters are hoping the long-awaited victory arrives tomorrow against the promotion hopefuls.
City will be without long term absentee Paul Deas and the match will come too soon for Alex Burns, who is on the road to recovery after suffering torn ankle ligaments back in October against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. It remains to be seen if Ian Campbell will stick with John Hillcoat between the sticks ahead of Craig Nelson. Hamilton, meanwhile, have no fresh injury worries ahead of this match with trio Graeme Jones, Paddy Keogh and Derek Fleming all coming back into the side.
Segregation will not apply for this match, so both sets of supporters will be able to move freely around the ground. Admission prices are £12 for adults and £6 for concession.
