Brechin City v Montrose - Match Preview
- By
Steven Mew
City go in to the final Betfred Cup group match against near neighbours Montrose tomorrow afternoon looking to pick up a positive result ahead of the league campaign starting next Saturday.
TEAM NEWS
Luke Watt and Fionn McLeod Kay remain sidelined whilst Ryan McCord is doubtful after coming off injured in midweek. New signings Ross Sinclair and Emile Ngoy, however, will be available for selection.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Barry said "We did OK in the first half against St Johnstone but we conceded soft goals again and in the second half we didn't do enough to deserve something from the game."
Asked if City will be looking to avenge for the 4 defeats against Montrose last campaign, Barry commented, "Last season is last season, it's a new team and a clean slate. It's a derby match and although it's a new team, they know it's an important game for us and we want to win."
MATCH OFFICIALS
Mike Roncone will officiate the local derby tomorrow, assisted by Graham McNeillie and Gary Logan. Roncone last took charge of a City game back in April - a 3-0 defeat against Stranraer at Stair Park.
ADMISSION INFORMATION
Kick off is 3pm. As with the rest of the Group B matches in the Betfred Cup, admission prices are as follows:
- Adults £12
- Concessions £6
- Season tickets are NOT valid.
The City Bar, situated within the David H Will Stand will be open to both sets of supporters from 1pm and again following the match until approximately 8pm.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 0-3 Montrose - 2nd April 2019
To say Montrose had the upper hand on City last season would be an understatement, with the Gable Endies winning all four league fixtures between the sides. The last meeting was a re-arranged midweek fixture at Glebe Park in April, where Stewart Petrie's men ran out comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to a brace from Ross Campbell and another from ex-City man Jamie Redman.
