City To Face Berwick In Cup
- By
Keith Johnston
Brechin will travel to Berwick for the third round of the Scottish Cup, after the Borderers overcame Dumbarton in their replay.
The score was 1-1 for a long spell, but Berwick took the lead through Gordon Connelly in the 73rd minute and Gareth Hutchison wrapped the result up in the last minute.
Sandy Clark's men - who Brechin also face a week earlier (New Year's Day) at Glebe Park - will present Dick Campbell's men with a tough test. After a tough start to his reign, they have now started picking up points in the league and today's result will give them confidence.
Elsewhere today, Stirling missed out on the chance to narrow the gap between themselves and Brechin, losing to Ayr United. The Honest Men climb above Morton into 4th.
Morton were set to play Forfar at Station Park but the game was a late victim of the weather. A few Brechin supporters may have gone to this one because it would have been Sanny's Morton debut - but it wasn't to be.
The only Angus club in action today was Arbroath who lost 4-2 to Alloa after leading 2-0.
