The club have announced that midfielder Grant Johnson has left the club. Johnson, who was plagued with injury last season, was given the summer to consider his future and he has decided it lies away from Glebe Park.

Johnson spent most of last season on the sidelines and with very little match practice under his belt, he was going to find it increasingly hard to force his way back into the team again.

He began his senior career with Dundee Utd and Huddersfield Town. Grant joined the club in 2003 for a reported £10,000 fee from local rivals Montrose, where he was club captain. He made an instant impact and his vision and range of passing proved to be a real asset to the City team.

He won the club's player of the year award in 2005/06 due to being one of the most consistent performers during a disappointing season.

Johnson made exactly 100 appearances for the club and it goes without saying that he leaves with the club's best wishes.
