City Victory Delights O'Neill - By Steven Mew

Michael O'Neill was a very happy man following City's convincing 3-0 win away to Ayr on Saturday. The win was sweet revenge for O'Neill who watched his side dominate the last game against Ayr at Somerset, only to lose 2-1.

The three points keeps City well on track for their promotion push as City, Peterhead and Alloa battle it out for the last play-off spot. Raith Rovers might even be dragged into it if their current poor form continues.

Michael O'Neill said, "We were very comfortable and played some excellent football particularly through the first half. We had the potential to slip up here but all credit to the players who showed that we've got from all areas of the park.

"The conditions were very difficult, playing in strong wind, but I thought it was a great piece of play for our second goal, with Charlie King feeding to Darren Smith for the cross to Michael Paton to fire home.

"I am delighted with the victory and all I can say is that we should have scored more."

O'Neill is also relieved everybody left the park fit and intact giving him important selection options for tomorrow night when second division league leaders Ross County come belatedly calling to Glebe Park for a meeting postponed from December 22.
