Russell- On form
City take on Stirling Albion at Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon in what is surely game of the day in the second division as 3rd take on 2nd.
Stirling have been Morton’s closest challengers for much of the season and the Bino’s have come out on top in the last two meetings against City.
Michael O’Neill said: “We are looking to change that. There has been little in the two games and, although Stirling have a game in hand, we are looking to keep our run going and claim second place.”
With Raith high in confidence after a good run of results, City need to continue picking up points to stay clear of the Kirkaldy outfit in the league.
Stirling visited Glebe Park on the second day of the season and went home victorious after a Steven Bell goal confirmed all 3 points.
The Bino’s also edged out City at Forthbank in October but they could consider themselves lucky. Goals from Steven Bell and Colin Cramb looked to have put Stirling on easy street but Darren Smith pulled a goal back for City before Stuart Callaghan missed a late penalty.
Iain Russell will be looking to keep up his current form, after banging in 4 goals in the last 2 games, both away from home. Iain is now top scorer in the league on 14, two clear of Cowdenbeath’s Liam Buchanan.
City will be without skipper Steven Ferguson who is suspended while David White is serving the second game of his 2 match ban after sitting out against Cowdenbeath last weekend.
Also doubtful is John Ward whose injury is continuing to baffle the experts. John can run without any problems but when he kicks the ball he feels some pain.
Grant Johnson made his comeback from injury against St Johnstone in the Forfarshire Cup on Tuesday night and he came through the match unscathed. Johnson is unlikely to start though as he is still not fully fit.
New signing Chris Hughes is in contention for a starting place after impressing in City’s defeat against St Johnstone midweek. Kevin Byers is also available after picking up a rib injury mid-way through the game against Morton at Cappielow a fortnight ago.
Stirling midfielder Chris Aitken has returned from injury and he will most likely go straight back into the team. However, top scorer Colin Cramb is doubtful.
Bino’s manager Allan Moore said: “This is a big game for both clubs and we have to be at our best. We need to start turning our chances into goals.”
