City To Take On Local Rivals

The Draw for the Second Round of the Scottish Football League Challenge Cup took place at Hampden Park today and City have been paired with local rivals Montrose at Links Park.
The last time City faced Montrose in a competitive match was back in March 2002 as City recorded a 2-0 win and went on to win the 3rd division title by a handsome margin. However, both sides have met in Forfarshire Cup ties and friendly matches since then.
Montrose visited Glebe Park pre-season for a friendly and City ran out 2-0 winners with Martin Johnston scoring a spectacular goal while Chris Geddes wrapped up the win.
The game will take place on Tuesday, 4th September, or Wednesday, 5th September, 2007 at Links Park. With no Angus teams in City's division this year, it would be fantastic to see a good turnout of Brechin fans at the game.
The full draw is as follows:
Airdrie United v Arbroath
East Stirlingshire v Queen's Park
Montrose v Brechin City
Peterhead v Morton
Ross County v St. Johnstone
Partick Thistle v Berwick Rangers
Clyde v Dunfermline Athletic
Forfar Athletic v Ayr United
In the event of a draw after normal time, extra time of 30 minutes (i.e. 15 minutes each way) will take place and thereafter, if necessary, Kicks from the Penalty Mark will be taken in accordance with the Rules laid down by the International Football Association Board.
