Stuart Callaghan
The City squad continues to shape up nicely ahead of next season as player of the year Stuart Callaghan has agreed to commit himself to the club for a further year.
Callaghan was placed on the transfer list at the end of last season along with Scott Walker and after being taken off, he went on to have an excellent season and he deservedly picked up the player of the year award at the Annual end of season dinner.
Callaghan follows Craig Nelson, Chris Hughes, Scott Walker, John Ward and David Murie who have all signed new contracts in the past week.
'Cal' has played much of the season at left back and had an extraordinary start to the season when he netted 7 goals before the turn of the year, most of which from the penalty spot.
He has been a figure of consistency in the squad and Michael O'Neill declared himself delighted that Callaghan has decided to stay on for another season.
O'Neill said: "Stuart was a big player for us last season and would have been our only player to complete every game had he not had a suspension hanging over him for the play-offs. He gives undoubted quality on the ball and great delivery from set pieces as well as the flexibility of playing in
midfield or left back."
Callaghan joined the club from Alloa Athletic in January 2005 after catching the eye of Iain Campbell. He has gone on to make a total of 86 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals in the process.
